Gianna Destasio

Gianna began her dance training at the age of three at Jazz Unlimited, and has continued dancing and performing ever since. She became a member of the ensemble at the age of ten, and got to share part of that experience with her two sisters, Nicolette and Sophia. She grew up training in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, and hip-hop with various talented choreographers and teachers. After graduating from the ensemble, Gianna began studying elementary and special education at Saint Joseph’s University. She also was a member of their Dance Team for four years, serving two as captain. While on the team, Gianna trained in hip-hop and pom and performed at the UDA National Collegiate competition. Her team received double title national championships in both pom and hip-hop in 2015, and continued to place top three in the nation each year while she was on the team. She performed at various collegiate basketball games, and pro dancer workshops in Las Vegas. Upon graduation, Gianna returned home to share some of her dance team style with her fellow Jazz Unlimited students. In 2018 and 2019, Gianna was selected to be a member of the Philadelphia 76ers Dance Team. Gianna loves to share her passion for dance with others. She has choreographed not only at JU, but for her college dance team, and for several high school dance teams around New Jersey. In addition to dance, Gianna is also a fourth grade teacher. She loves teaching children, and watching them grow. Gianna’s goal is to always push her students to their fullest potential, and for them to be the best they can be at all times.
