JAZZ UNLIMITED - THE NEXT STEP PROGRAM 2009 - 2010

Jazz Unlimited is pleased to announce another exciting season of "THE NEXT STEP" PROGRAM. The Next Step Program is a series of workshops with the emphasis on technique and choreography. The workshops have been developed as an enhancement to weekly scheduled dance classes and are especially designed for students who show promise and who are ready for, and interested in, more intense, advanced training. Enrollment in the Next Step is achieved by auditioning for the Next Step Program. The dancers will be featured in our annual recitals. The Next Step program consists of 28 - 30 hours of instruction consisting of 14 – 16 workshops that emphasize both technique and choreography. All Next Step dancers are required to have black jazz shoes.

The program is scheduled to begin the weekend of Jan. 16th and continue through May. The cost of the program will be $400. This price includes the cost of a costume but does not include the required black jazz shoes. Upon acceptance & registration into the Next Step Program a deposit of $100 is due by Dec. 4 with the balance of $300 due no later than Jan. 16th.

There will be auditions for students who have read the dance criteria and feel that they have mastered such requirements, reviewed by their teachers, showing potential to be part of this Next Step Program. Before making your decision to audition for this program, please be advised that rehearsals will take place either Saturday or Sunday at specific times. These dates and times will be discussed at the meetings for parents on Saturday, November 14. The meetings will be held the first 15 minutes of each group’s audition time. The Next Step dancer must be available on both days during the weekends as some rehearsals will be on Saturday and others will fall on Sunday. If a dancer knows now that they will have to miss more than 2 rehearsals they should not try out for this program. A “Next Step” dancer is not permitted to miss more than 2 rehearsals. They also must be available to dance in every recital.

These auditions will take place Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the listed times.

Please be advised that this letter does not guarantee your entry into the program. This letter only informs you of your opportunity to audition. Letters advising you of the teachers decision of what dancers have made the program will be mailed on Thursday, November 19. Just a reminder that your $100 deposit is due Dec. 6 so we may order costumes.

In order to audition you must complete the form at the bottom of this letter and return it to the desk no later than Saturday, Nov. 7. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
